• Greetings from Canada,

My father and his family lived in former Eger, Sudetenland and were forced to leave their homeland in 1945. The family relocated to Hessen. My father passed away in 2008 and it was in 2009 when I started to search my families history. In my father’s document‘s, I did not find

his Ahnenpass. My aunt is still alive and so I had asked her questions about the Ahnenpass.

It didn’t take me long to figure out that she was not willing to talk about it. I did not want to upset her and did not ask more questions. My question is, is there a possibility of getting a copy of my father‘s Ahnenpass? I do not know much about the Ahnenpass and would appreciate any comments you may have. Thanking you in advance.:)

  • Hi there. Thank you for your message. Unfortunately, I can't help you here. Not every German was in possession of an Ahnenpass. There is no central database. And the documents in my archive have been laboriously collected over the years. Best regards and good luck with your genealogy.
